About Power On Community

- Mission

The primary objective of Power On Community, "Friends Helping Friends - Asheville" is to provide a mechanism for non-profit organizations in our community to assist each other.  The intent is that the organizations will provide this assistance as a part of their normal "day to day" business and that it will not require additional money or programs to be achieved.  While we realize there is a lot of this co-operation today between non-profits, our objective is to somewhat "formalize" these relationships and make all organizations aware of how they might give and receive help with other non-profits.  Think of it as a "Non-Profit Co-op".

- Program Description

OBJECTIVE

1) Provide non-profit organizations in the Asheville/Buncombe County area with an opportunity to raise funds for their programs and projects.

2) Provide an opportunity for these non-profit organizations to help each other during their normal course of business and activities.

CONCEPT

Charlotte Street Computers and Asheville Community Theatre provide a Preview Performance of each Mainstage play per year (minimum of 6 plays) for benefit of local non-profit organization(s). Normally two or three organizations will participate in each “Preview Performance”, based on their size and patron/volunteer base.

- Non-profits will be selected based on application process. Selection criteria will include evaluation of mission and purpose of organizations, size of donor and volunteer base, and projects or programs to be funded with this income. Primary consideration will be given to organizations with abilities to assist other non-profit organizations in our community (see examples below).

- A total of 300 tickets will be made available to organization(s) for sale to donor base with a face value of $20 each. If two organization participate in the Preview Night they will realize $3000 if they sell all of their allotted tickets. If there are three organizations, they will realize $2000.

- Tickets will be provided to the participating organization(s) and they will in turn sell them to their donor and volunteer base.  Number of tickets will be determined by the total number of non-profit organizations participating in a specific performance.

-  Organization(s) will be responsible for marketing of tickets.  All collateral material must include Power On Community, "Friends Helping Friends - Asheville" Sponsored by Charlotte Street Computers and Asheville Community Theatre.

- Meetings with the participating organizations will be scheduled approximately 6 weeks prior to the Preview Night date to discuss the details, work out the logistics and investigate ways in which the non-profits can assist each other.
